How did YOU wake up this morning?

Did you wake up:
exhausted? energized? sluggish? refreshed? psyched?

Change is the one constant in the universe! Everything changes - that's forever - the one thing that will never change is...change! Consider the way you live your life: Does that change with each season? each year? Do you tweak your routines when you get new information about your health?
Or do you keep the same habits and schedules year after year?

Every business needs consistent sales to stay in business. The more regular the sales, the better. Branding is the vehicle a business uses to attract your business and to ensure repeat sales. When you favor one brand, product or service over another, you're more likely to become a repeat customer. You've been branded.

But honestly, when it comes to your health and wellbeing, we need a different approach entirely. While some choices like daily exercise might be useful all year long. Other choices, like our foods need to shift with each season, in order for us to maximize our health!

Think about your closet that is full of clothes you love. When the warm weather arrives you pack away your Winter coats, boots, scarves and mittens and pull out your Summer sandals, dresses, shorts and t-shirts.

Some things, especially the types of daily food and exercise, should (like our clothes) be swapped in and out of use, from season to season. This practice of seasonal living, eating and dressing allows our bodies to adapt to changes in temperature and climate with much more ease and much less stress, than if we were to eat, exercise and dress the same way all year long.

We've all been branded. Whether it's your favorite dress designer, your favorite news source, your favorite sports team, your favorite bistro or loaf of bread, business counts on branding you. Some branding is useful, and we all love to have our "go-to" places and things when we're short on time or need a dependable product or experience. But sometimes this 'go-to' habit becomes a big rut, which actually takes us out of the game of living fully each day.

Think about the many meals you grab and go, because you're rushing off to work. All the coffee you drink to keep up with a hectic schedule. Or the sleeping pills you gulp down because you're too stressed out at night to sleep. Or that standard meal that you eat every day for lunch, day after day. (I remember in sixth grade I ate a bologna and mayo sandwich for lunch every day because I did not have to think about it.) Boring!

When you live in a four season climate, as we do in New England, it's very important to get your seasonal game on. We'll feel more energized and get better sleep when we do. Getting more sleep will minimize stress. But if the way we are eating and living is adding stress to our bodies each day, we won't get the sleep we need to feel amazing the each morning. Would you wear your Winter clothes all Summer long? NO! You'd overheat! Would you wear Summer clothes all Winter long? Of course not, you'd freeze.

In the same way different foods have different thermo-dynamic properties. Some foods heat you up (Hot Sauce) and others cool you down (cucumbers). Some foods stimulate your mind and body (coffee) while others can calm you down (herbs). So if you are feeling stressed, tired, exhausted or lack sleep or never get a good night's sleep, then something in your life is out of balance. And since change is the core of the universe, it is possible to change poor sleep or lack of energy into deep sleep and abundant energy.
